Ministry Opportunities at First Mennonite

The wide number of ministry opportunities are divided up into six core ministries. Each ministry has a chairperson that is part of our Church Council. 


The worship ministry tends to planning and resourcing worship and music for Sunday morning services.

The hospitality ministry tends to welcoming, including, and connecting with people within and beyond the congregation.

The stewardship ministry tends to maintaining and using property, finances, and physical resources faithfully.

The care ministry tends to caring for needs and encouraging people in the congregation and to giving guidance to matters of membership and baptism.

The mission ministry tends to extending the reach of the congregation into the world through mission and service involvement.

The nurture ministry tends to nurturing faith formation and Christian education.

Additional Ministries and Teams

The Discernment Team tends to discerning and encouraging the gifts, talents, and interests of the members by asking the vital question, "What are our resources?" and presents for congregational approval the slate of Church Council Members each year.

The Vision Team tends to visioning and goal setting by asking the vital question: "Where are we going?" and provides counsel and accountability to the pastor.

A group of young mothers gather at First Mennonite in the basement every other Thursday for quiet time, fellowship, Bible Study, prayer and more.

Childcare is provided by trained First Mennonite and community church members in the basement. Snacks, music, stories, puzzles and many games provided.
